i've got to keep holding on!

mei's science resources!

welcome! as someone who loves to learn, i've spent alot of time sifting through endless numbers of sites and wasting countless hours searching through... not so great sites... which is what this will hopefully help you prevent! i've compiled all my favorite science + learning resources here! (still VERY wip) i hope it can help you ♥

remember that learning doesn't ever have to stop! you can learn whatever you want, whenever you want! our brains are such a powerful tool that is often undermined, remember to use it! happy studies!

OK ! here goes !

LibraryGenesis - a classic ! you can find almost anything you would need here, and there's so many search options- making it ultra convenient
National Center for Biotechnologies Information - super useful for bio-related studies ! especially medicine and related biotechnologies!
MIT Open Courseware - open courseware is super useful and fun ! you can read up on pretty much anything you'd like ! there are plently on just about anything you could ever want to know... the MIT one is my personal favorite but there are plenty of others!
Open Textbooks Search - open textbooks are textbooks specifically liscenced to be free for everyone! i love these for when i want to learn something on my own time ! this specific site searches for open textbooks for you in a database !
Internet Archive - useful for many things INCLUDING finding textbooks (and other books) for free in pdf format! always worth checking if you're looking for something specific.
PDF Drive - free PDFs ! check for textbooks here in addition to the other sites !
LibreTexts - open education resources! interactive modules and more open textbooks !
Coursera - free university courses that you can take at your own pace! in most cases, you can enroll for free and get access to all course material however you usually have to pay for the certificate! i personally just like to grab the course materials and study on my own time for fun without worrying about the certificate! (there are some that are completely free, however!)
The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks - a book about the origin story of HeLa, the first immortal human cell line and how it was wrongfully stolen from a woman named Henrietta Lacks. This book is about not only the cells, but also her life and death. I reccomend this book heavily! it's very interesting ♥
Mouse Party - an interesting little game that shows how drugs act on brains at a synaptic level
EdX - similar to coursera in that you can take free university courses, however i've used it less and am less familiar ! still has some really good content that you can access for freesies
KhanAcademy - you might remember using Khan Academy videos to learn your multiplication tables in elementary school - but they also offer higher level courses with lesson videos, practice questions and guided learning on a range of math, science, and humanities topics ... one of my favorites for sure
